The Fifth Biblical Hebrew Month Av

The fifth Hebrew Month Av began Friday evening July 17, 2015. The moon was sighted from Jerusalem at 7:57 pm by Sonja Vangronsvelt, Stephan Vangronsvelt, and Devorah Gordon.

This Sunday, in commemoration of the 9th day(Tish B’Av) of the Hebrew month of Av, the day of remembering when Jews all over the world mourn and fast marking the destruction of the First and Second Temples of Jerusalem built by Solomon and Herod. This is not an appointed time sanctified by our Creator, but rather a memorial day instituted by man and keep by tradition. This day is remembered according to the modern Jewish calendar.
