Be Transformed by the Word, not the World
We read about the lure of the world in Romans 12:2, “Do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of this world. Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you will know what Yehovah God wants and will agree that what He wants is good, satisfying, and able to succeed”(CJB).
The “standards of this world” are self-focused and self centered. They promote thoughts and behaviors like hate, jealousy, lust, competitiveness, bigotry, condemnation, and so on. Consequently, words based on the world’s standards are condemning, belittling, hurtful, and discouraging.
