New moon not sighted, Yom Teruah to begin sunset Tuesday Sep 15, 2015.
The new moon was not sighted from Israel on Monday September 14, 2015. The skies were relatively clear, with some dust in the atmosphere making for a beautiful sunset. The reports received so far are that the moon was not sighted in Jerusalem, Givat Zeev, Ramla, Ashdod, Rishon Letziyon, Haifa, Tel Aviv, and Poriyya Illit. Based on all the information we currently have, Yom Teruah will begin Tuesday September 15, 2015 at sunset.
I took the photo at the top of this message of the sun setting over Jerusalem from the Mount Scopus observation point.
